The Squirrel
sciurus vulgaris
Eurasian squirrels are found throughout most of Europe and much of Asia.
Squirrels are most active during the night. Their diet consists mainly of nuts and seeds, more rarely insects, eggs, nestlings or other small animals.
Skilled climbers, they live in trees and only come down to feed. They usually build a spherical nest (hood) made of twigs and leaves in the fork of a branch or in the hollow of a tree.
