The ‘Juegdschlass’, from 1873 to the present day
The ‘Juegdschlass’ was built by the Luxembourg steel tycoons (ARBED) in 1873 to serve as a hunting pavilion.
The building has been extended several times since the 19th century. The annexes to the ‘Juegdschlass’ were gradually added to its present form.
In 1935, a private operator bought the hunting lodge and opened it to the public under the name “Café Juegdschlass”.
The hunting lodge was originally built as a refuge, and it has remained true to this purpose ever since. For generations, people in Luxembourg have enjoyed the traditional cuisine and the unique atmosphere of the ‘Juegdschlass’.
Since 1986, the current operator has been running the well-known restaurant in the Bambësch.
The building was gradually transformed into its current form. The main section has been completely preserved, while the hunting lodge has been fitted with a veranda and an extension to the front room.
Tall trees grew up alongside the terrace over the years, but they had to be removed a few years ago. Today, visitors can once again enjoy the unique view of the Alzette Valley.
