The badger

The badger is a carnivorous animal belonging to the marten family. It is also known as the ‘Grimbart’ in German folklore and especially in fables.

The badger likes to settle in wooded areas with lots of undergrowth, where it usually digs its large sett into a hill. It is not uncommon for the badger to share its sett with other inhabitants, such as the fox.

Depending on the season, its diet includes both animal and plant-based food. It mainly eats worms, but also insects, small mammals, crops and berries.
