The Goshawk
astur gentilis
The goshawk can be found in large, contiguous areas of woodland as well as in open, cultivated landscapes with hedgerows or scattered shrubs.
The goshawk builds its large nest high up in the crowns of trees that are at least 60 years old.
It hunts small to medium-sized birds and various mammals such as rabbits, rats and sometimes squirrels in flight. This large bird of prey sometimes also takes chickens, ducks or carrier pigeons.
